ITALY UNDER 16 AT WORK TO EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
It begins this morning (wednesday, july 7th) in Asti the training camp for Italy Under 16 female national team that will play in European Championship from next july 30th. It will be an important championship for Italy national team, because it will play on home field: Turin, Asti, Biella, Cuneo and Novara will be the city of the tournament.
Italy team of coach D’Antoni and assistant Genta starts with good chances: two years ago they won EuroBAM, not a continental championship but really an interestin test. Tecnically, Italy has a good team but not so powerfull under the basket (centers very young). The star of the group is Sottana, great prospect for italian female basketball, but also Elena Russo and Barisoni are very good athletes.
The girls called for the training camp are 19 and next Monday the coaches will choose 14. These will train until july 29th: than coach D’Antoni will decide the 12 of the team for the championship.
