EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP FOR UNDER 16 GIRLS STARTS TOMORROW. ITALY'S COACH CHOOSE THE 12 PLAYERS

Countdown is finished: European Championship for Under 16 girls starts tomorrow with the matches of the first day of the preliminary round. Almost 200 girls from 16 national team assure the show of a great basketball event.

The teams were divided in four groups: group A will play in Astim group B will play in Biella, group C will play in Novara and group D will play in Cuneo. Monday, at the end of the preliminary round, all the teams will transfer in Turin. The first two teams in the standing of each group will play for the placement 1°-8° (in Palasport of Parco Ruffini), and the other teams will play for the placement 9°-16° (Rotelliere, Torino Esposizioni) and to save them from Division B in next season.

The championship starts with Russia, Spain, Serbia and France as the favourites for the podium.

All the matches are free entrance.

Finally, yesterday morning Italy’s coach Amedeo D’Antoni decided, after three weeks of training camp, the 12 players that will be in the Championship. They are: Marta Barisoni, Valeria Battisodo, Sabrina Cinili, Clelia Corsi, Martina Crippa, Martina Fassina, Alice Girardelli, Chiara Rossi, Elena Russo, Elisa Silva, Giorgia Sottana, Arianna Zampieri.
